"Gertrude Grimes"

Gertrude owns Green Grimes Grocery. She specializes in farm-grown organic vegetables and organic coffee. Her customers are devoted to her and would rather spend the day in a stale nest then shop at Shop Rite. Gertie offers house credit, no questions asked.

Gertie has a master’s degree in English from Cambridge University. In addition to being well spoken, Gertie knows her vegetables. When weather permits, she displays her wares outside under her Green Grimes Grocery awning. The Green Grimes Grocery storefront has appeared in numerous magazines, including Better Coops and Nests, and Gertie is the proud four-time recipient of the Green Grocer Gold Medal. Gertie's staff is all hens. Her store manager and deli cook is a Transylvanian Naked Neck.

Gertie is a Pollame Psychotherapy client (she is working through an abusive chickhood). In what little free time she has, Gertie reads poetry and short stories. Her favorite book of the moment is Trouble in Mind, by Lucie Brock-Broido (Knopf).
